The Federation for the Conservation of Monuments - Federatie Instandhouding monumenten – is an umbrella organization founded in December 2009. The federation, FIM for short, collectively represents the interests of organizations concerned with built, archaeological, green and mobile monuments in the world of politics. The FIM got off to a flying start. In less than two years it had more than 30 members and represented the whole sector. The FIM is now an important platform where members exchange ideas about the protection, management and conservation of monuments.
With legislation and rules and regulations becoming increasingly complex, cooperation is essential. Moreover, concerted lobbying in The Hague has proved effective. Meetings and gatherings of various kinds are organized and work groups set up. A vision is worked out together and propagated at political and governmental level. So the FIM is the spokesperson and intermediary between monument organizations and the government.
